HOW THIS WORKS

What to Expect

When you arrive at East Mountain House, you enter a home. Private rooms open onto shared spaces filled with natural light. A kitchen where volunteers prepare meals. Places to sit quietly or gather with loved ones.

Our home accommodates up to two residents at a time. This small scale is intentional—it allows us to offer truly personalized care and maintain the intimacy of a home rather than an institution.

Who Provides Care

Care is provided 24 hours a day by skilled staff supported by trained volunteers. All guests work with The Hospice Team, who oversees medical care and coordinates with our team.

But beyond physical care, what distinguishes East Mountain House is presence. Volunteers become extended family—sitting with guests, supporting families, and creating an atmosphere of genuine connection during a profoundly difficult time.

A Community Effort

East Mountain House exists because of community support. Local donors, volunteers, and foundations make this work possible. We’re grassroots in nature—created by the community, for the community.

Care at East Mountain House is accessible regardless of financial circumstances. Guests who are able to pay do so at a rate that reflects the cost of care and the home. Philanthropic support helps bridge the gap for those who cannot, so no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
