Our Mission & View

OUR MISSION

East Mountain House is an End-of-Life Care Home guided by intrinsic goodness. We are an inclusive, community-centered haven where guests and their loved ones find compassionate, personalized, end-of-life care and support. We restore dignity to the dying process, ensuring that every person is surrounded by kindness and respect, regardless of financial means.

East Mountain House offers an alternative to institutional end-of-life care. We provide a home where dying is met with compassion, dignity, and community.

Here, in a light-filled home in the Connecticut Berkshires, individuals spend their final weeks or months surrounded by skilled care and genuine presence. Families find space to gather, grieve, and simply be together. No one navigates this passage alone.

We believe care at life’s end should be:

  • Personal and responsive to each individual’s needs
  • Accessible to all, not determined by ability to pay
  • Rooted in connection, not isolation
  • Delivered in a setting that feels like home

East Mountain House is committed to providing compassionate end-of-life care without financial barriers. Guests who have the means to contribute toward the cost of their care help sustain our operations, ensuring that we can serve individuals and families who would otherwise be unable to access this support.

OUR VIEW

We envision a world where every person experiences end-of-life care that honors their humanity. Where dying isn’t hidden away or navigated in fear. Where compassion and community replace clinical distance.

East Mountain House is both a place and a possibility—proof that end-of-life care can be different. We share what we’re learning with communities everywhere, hoping to inspire others to create spaces where dying is met with the care it deserves.
